New Chiltern Compass Library now available at Chapter Two Community Bookshop

A new, free of charge, book borrowing library has been launched by Chiltern Compass this month at Chapter Two Community Bookshop in Chesham, Bucks. At the moment, the Chiltern Compass Library consists of just over 20 books hand-picked by our Chair, Dr Lyn Jenkins. All books address end-of-life and there are a wide range of perspectives from experts in the field or those who wanted to share personal experiences to help others.

Ranging from collections of essays, short vignettes and even a children’s illustrated book to help younger people to come to terms with death and dealing with grief, there is something for everyone in the library. A list of the books can be found on our website here and there’s a helpful short synopsis for each book to help you decide which one you’d like to borrow first.

Commenting on the Chiltern Compass Library launch, Dr Jenkins said: “We’re delighted to launch our new book borrowing service and are grateful to our friends at Chapter Two Community Bookshop to help us reach as many people as possible. We all approach end-of-life planning, coping with death and loss in different ways. I’ve personally hand picked the 22 books myself as each have so many wise words and lived experiences worth sharing.

The library also features some familiar Chiltern Compass friends – for example Cathy Rentzenbrink and Valerie Jack who have spoken at recent Chiltern Compass Conversations.

The books can be borrowed free of charge at Chapter Two located at 10 High St, Chesham HP5 1EP. Please make your way to the till and a member of the team will be able to assist you in accessing the library. While there is no charge to borrow the books, of course any small donation would be much appreciated. Depending on demand over the coming months we may grow the library.

We’d love to hear your feedback on the new Chiltern Compass Library. Get in touch via Facebook, Instagram or enquiries@chilterncompass.org.uk
